Baby thoughts...

Being first time parents is pretty interesting and hilarious. We have had a few good laughs over the last 10 days.

Being the mommy and having Baby A's food supply means I am the one who feeds her and usually burps her (Dave is still a little freaked out to do it). Breastfeedng is the most wonderful thing.  it really gives us some quality bonding time. I was thinking of also pumping and doing bottle feeding but now that thought makes me a little sad cause of how much I enjoy breastfeeding. I think it does make the most sense for me to do it in the end but it is still a hard decision.  I may get burnt out and be grateful for my decision in the end. So we shall see.. anyway, Dave has also wanted to have some special bonding time with the baby..so he decided he would be the "diaper changer" (i am sooooo not complaining) at least when he is at home. he has been so good with it. He gets up in the middle of the night to change her and has never once complained.

A few days ago while Dave was changing Audriana's wet diaper she farted. He said.."Audriana did you just fart in daddy's face?" As soon as he said that..BOOM..she really let out an explosion in his face! I thought it was hilarious and we couldn't stop laughing.  I guess he got what he asked for!

I really think that Audriana knows when daddy is home and when he will change her diaper. Dave was at work all day yesterday and the little stinker (literally) hardly pooped all day. Well, the second Dave walked in the door we heard a rumble and then she had a huge blow out! Just in time for Daddy! Daddy thinks we are teaming up but I think you just want that extra bonding time with dad!

This little one also enjoys sleeping very comfortably during the day and wiggling around, moaning and squirming all night. She really is BOSS and already gets what she wants. I think she is not eating enough during the day ( I promise I really try..I wake her and she just does not last that long) but for some reason she eats a ton right before bed which is a good thing but then she gets so full it makes her gassy and have these blow outs. So then she is hungry again and yes we have tried the pacifier ( i was anti this before we had her..just like I was anti the epidural..how things change!) and then it just goes on. It is a good thing we find humor in this. I really think God was preparing me for this because the last 2 months of pregnancy because I was awake from 2 am - 6 am. Well, nothing has really changed and when she is sleeping I stay awake because I am such a paranoid mother! I really love her so much and she is such a sweet little thing that I want to make sure she is always ok!

I seriously didn't think having a newborn would be this challenging and tiring. I mean, I thought it would be and prepared for it but then again, I didn't really prepare for it...once again, I wasn't expecting her to come until this weekend!

Even though it is tiring and an adjustment...it has been the best 10 days of our lives so far. We seriously can't get enough of this sweet sweet baby girl.

  1. Hazel was the SAME EXACT way for the first month, now at 7 weeks she has more awake days and sleeps more at night. I dont think that no matter how many times you wake her up to eat shes going to do what she wants anyway hahah

  2. Nanette, I am SO happy for you. Your Audriana is beautiful. You and Dave are the best parents.
I can relate to how you feel about your baby, I love holding Isaiah and I'm not getting much else done because I just like to hang out and hold my little baby.
